Spanish classes offered in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level are part of
a University Extension program for foreign students who have an interest in learning
or furthering their existing knowledge of the Spanish language. The program is run
by Spanish Schools and Academies, through an agreement with the Universidad Rural de
Guatemala.
Regular courses at each level last for three weeks, intensive courses last two weeks. When each level is satisfactorily completed, a diploma is issued certifying the level attained.
To apply for Intermediate or Advanced level, students are required to pass a proficiency test.
Grade for promotion (pass): 61 out of 100 points.
Hours required for exam:
Regular; 60 hours, 4 hours daily for 3 weeks.
Intensive: 60 hours, 6 hours daily for 2 weeks.
The charge for university credit is U.S.$50.00 per credit hour.
This fee is independent of the Spanish classe course fees, and credit transfer
and acceptance between the Universidad Rural de Guatemala and universities abroad are subject to the policies of the recipient university.
